Everyone, meet my horse Joey ~ Joey, this is everyone! > U < I love that this outfit is easy and comfortable and I don’t have to worry about ruining it; hence the trip to the horse yards to un-rug the pony which turned into an outfit shoot. ; )
If you’ve ever been around horses, you will know that as soon as you step near one you become an instant magnet for horse hair, dirt, scurf ~ you name it, it gets on you. Still, what’s really great is that I got these jeans for free ~ so I don’t care what happens to them!
When I picked them up they were actually a pair of gansta style hip hop pants; you know the kind ~ baggy, loose and worn around the knees… Not my style, or my size for that matter, so I sewed them into a pair of high-waisted vintage styled pants by using the shape of my good old Freddie’s of Pinewood jeans as a guide. They turned out pretty well if I do say so myself!
I am also in love with my new-to-me gingham blouse; it’s so comfy and cute! I think that I definitely need more gingham in my wardrobe, the checks are so awesome. Joey wasn’t very impressed with it though ~ he doesn’t care unless there are carrots involved! He did, however, ham it up for the camera quite a bit. Don’t you think he makes a great model? Next time I have to remember to get a few shots with his legs in frame too! ; P

I'm one of your newer followers, and I don't think I've commented yet, but I adore your style!! Brilliant job with the jeans. And I love seeing your pony, too! I have an Appaloosa horse and am always striving to reconcile my love of vintage with the need for practical stable clothes ;)
ReplyDeleteYou have your own horse?! Oh man, I am so so jealous. I would love to have my own pony
ReplyDeleteThanks Dakota! It's good to hear from you, : )!
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to wear vintage and look after horses - my main problem is that I don't want to ruin it. It's also the same with house cleaning and stuff. You can't really wear vintage for that, or even reproduction stuff cause it's all so expensive!
I think that's why I like thrifting so much, because if you manage to find vintage styled stuff for cheap you don't have to worry about it. The other alternative is to make your own clothes, but that can take a lot of time and cash too....
I must confess because of this I do end up wearing old, none vintage clothes to do mucky jobs around the house, and specific horse-designated clothes for riding/grooming the pony. ;)
He's a lot of fun, but also a lot of work... :) I wouldn't have it any other way though. <3
ReplyDeleteI love what you did with the jeans! your socks are the cutest :)
ReplyDeletecheers,

Oh thanks Mrs Amber! Those socks are one of my favorite pairs. I only wish they socks didn't have a hole in the heel! :' (
ReplyDeleteHi sweet gal, thank you very much for sharing some of your favourite things with me. Books have been a perpetual love of mine for as far back as I can remember, too, and there are a few that - through scores of moves throughout my life - I still have my my early childhood as well. Treasures that simply can't be parted with no matter what.
ReplyDeleteThese outfit snaps are delight! I like how you styled every element of it, and think the striped socks make for an extra cute touch!
Oodles of hugs & joyful Wednesday wishes,
♥ Jessica
